Student Checklist

The checklist below is your road map to participate in commencement.

1. Confirm your commencement eligibility and graduation status

Undergraduate students who are eligible to participate in Commencement 2025 will have the following Expected Graduation Terms:

  • Summer 2024
  • Fall 2024
  • Winter 2025
  • Spring 2025
  • Summer 2025
  • Fall 2025

To graduate, you must apply for graduation separately from commencement by the deadline stated in the Academic and Administrative Calendar with the Office of the Registrar

Graduate students who are eligible to participate in Commencement 2025 will graduate in the following quarters:

  • Summer 2024
  • Fall 2024
  • Winter 2025
  • Spring 2025

To apply to graduate with a master’s degree or Ph.D., you must apply with the Division of Graduate Studies.


2. Order your cap and gown (regalia)

If you missed the deadline to order online, you can still preorder and pick up at commencement. Fill out the order form below, and Herff Jones will send a Square invoice for payment. You may pick up your order at the regalia tent located at the entrance of the venue on the Upper East Field right before your ceremony. Herff Jones will be available an hour before each event and will remain open until the beginning of the last event each day.

The pre-order form closes on June 6 at midnight. If you miss the pre-order option, visit the regalia tent at commencement. Regalia will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students are welcome to decorate their caps as long as they adhere to Student Conduct & Community Standards and do not obstruct anyone’s view. Students are welcome to wear cords, stoles, flower leis, and kukui necklaces.

Please note that regalia is not required to participate in commencement.


3. Attend upcoming events (optional)

  • Graduation & Commencement Virtual Information Session | Wednesday, March 5, from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. PST

4. Register for commencement

Commencement registration will open on Monday, March 31, and close on Wednesday, May 14, at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Eligible undergraduate and graduate students will receive an email to register on March 31.

Participation is not guaranteed if you attempt to register after the deadline.


5. Take the First Destination Survey

All graduating seniors should complete the First Destination Survey. The survey asks students about plans after completing a degree—whether seeking employment, working, going to graduate school, or pursuing other interests.
